Agriculture Advisory Board

The Agriculture Advisory Board serves as a vital link between the Matanuska-Susitna Borough Assembly and the agricultural community. Established to support and guide the future of Borough agriculture lands (MSB 4.80.010(B)), the Board reviews key issues and provides informed recommendations on conservation, land use, and economic development for properties subject to Borough Agricultural Covenants.

The Board is composed of 12 members representing local soil and water conservation districts, agricultural organizations, and individuals with expertise in areas ranging from livestock and crops to floriculture, food production, and business/farm development. A non-voting youth intern also contributes to the Board's work, offering fresh perspective and engagement. Meeting regularly, the Board discusses and advises on agriculture-related matters and submits formal recommendations to the Assembly and Borough Administration. Their efforts help shape policies that sustain and grow agriculture in the Mat-Su Borough.

Board members are volunteers and may be reimbursed for mileage when attending official meetings.
