Borough Code

Borough code continually changes as new ordinances are adopted by the Assembly. The Borough has moved to "on-demand" codification. This means that legislation is typically codified as soon as possible after adoption.

Title 16 was replaced with Title 27 with the adoption of Ordinance Serial No. 06-147(AM), however, it is still valid for some continuing platting actions. Title 16 has been supplied for those instances.

Title 27 was replaced with Title 43 with the adoption of Ordinance Serial No. 11-072, however, it is still valid for some continuing platting actions. Title 27 has been supplied for those instances.

Title 43 can be located in Borough Code.

Borough Legislation

Current and past legislation back to March 2017 are available at our Current Legislation Site. Older archived legislation, from 1964 to 2017 are available on our Archived Legislation Page.

General Code (eCode360) Search Cheat Sheet

Basic Search

  • Start with one keyword.

    • Example: dogs

    • Example: subdivision

    • Example: variance

If you receive too many results, narrow your search using one of the methods below.

Search an Exact Phrase

Place quotation marks around words that must appear together.

Example:

  • "dangerous dog"

  • "public hearing"

  • "conditional use"

Without quotation marks, General Code searches for the individual words.

Search for Multiple Concepts (AND)

Use AND (capitalization not required) when both terms must appear in the results.

Examples:

  • dogs AND leash

  • building AND permit

  • "public hearing" AND planning

Exclude a Word

Use a minus sign (-) immediately before a word or phrase to exclude it.

Examples:

  • fence -temporary

  • animal -"dangerous dog"

Jump Directly to a Code Section

If you know the section number, use the Jump To feature instead of searching.

Examples:

  • 17.55

  • 8.15.020

This is usually the fastest way to reach a specific code section.

Filter Your Results

After searching, use the filters on the left side of the results page to narrow your results by:

  • Code

  • New Laws

  • Public Documents

  • Notes (if available)

Additional filters may appear after selecting a category.

Tips for Better Results

✔ Start broad, then narrow your search.

✔ Use quotation marks for exact phrases.

✔ Use AND to require multiple concepts.

✔ Use the minus sign (-) to remove unwanted topics.

✔ If you know the section number, use Jump To instead of Search.

✔ If you receive hundreds of results, your search is probably too broad.

✔ If you receive no results, try:

  • a synonym

  • the singular or plural form

  • removing quotation marks

  • searching only one keyword first
