MSB007999 Land Acquisition for Visitor Center

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough, Community Development Department is proposing to acquire a one-acre lot next to the new Gateway Visitor Center. The property is known as 8798 E. Tex Cobb Circle, tax account 17N01E23B002. The property is privately owned, and currently vacant. Acquisition of this parcel will help preserve unobstructed mountain views to the south-east from the visitor center. If a structure were built on the property, it could partially block the views. The property is proposed to be classified as “Reserved Use Lands”. The purchase price is $172,000 which is the fair market value based on a third-party appraisal.
