MSB008322 Mile 197.5 Creek Salvage Timber

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough Land & Resource Management Division is proposing a timber salvage sale of the dead and damaged spruce on approximately 30 acres located on Borough-owned parcel Tax ID 7097000T00B.

The timber would be offered in an over-the-counter sale. The parcel encompasses 52 acres, but only 30 acres are included in the proposed salvage area. This timber sale is to reduce hazardous fuel loading and to support healthy forest regeneration. There are approximately 150 cords available.  The dead spruce would be harvested within the 100-foot buffer along the Parks Highway to improve aesthetics and potentially within the 100-foot buffer along the property boundary to the north, and east, and south.

Supporting material is available for public inspection by appointment only during normal business hours on the 2nd floor of the Borough Building in the Land & Resource Management office or visit the Public Notice Section on the Borough’s web page, www.matsu.gov.
