Lesson Types
Parent/Child Lessons:
Parent and Child Group Lessons at the Palmer Pool are a great way to introduce children ages 6 months to 3 years to the water in a fun, safe, and supportive environment. Parents or guardians join their child in the water for the entire 30-minute class, participating in games, songs and water safety activities designed to build comfort and confidence in and around the water. Instructs will demonstrate or talk parents through techniques to help acclimate young children to the aquatic environment while making swimming both enjoyable and safe. Calles are taught primarily in 3 feet of water, and a 1:1 parent or guardian to child ratio in the water is required. At this time, Parent & Child lessons are offered in the morning one day a week each session.
Float for Life Lessons:
Float for Life Lessons at the Wasilla Pool are 15-minute private lessons designed for infants and young children, with a strong focus on water safety and survival skills. These lessons help children develop the ability to roll onto their back, float independently, and move toward safety if they find themselves in the water unexpectedly. Using techniques and individualized instruction, these lessons build confidence in the water while teaching critical life-saving skills at an early age. These lessons are taught one day a week midday and space is limited.
Preschool and Youth Lessons:
Our preschool swim lessons are for ages 3 to 6. They combine fun games, songs and water activities with American Red Cross swimming skills to create a positive and engaging learning experience. Though play based instruction, children build water confidence, learn fundamental swim skills and develop important water safety habits. Youth swim lessons are designed for swimmers ages 6 and up and follow the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim program, emphasizing skill development, water safety, and confidence in the water. Swimmers progress through a series of levels that build foundational skills and advance at their own pace. Our goal is to introduce lifelong love of swimming while helping young swimmers gain the confidence and skills they need stay safe in and around the water. A parent or guardian is required to remain in the facility for any child under the age of 9. Each class is 30 minutes long and there are usually six to eight classes in a session for the cost of $52.50 or $70.00.
Adult and Teen Lessons:
We also offer adult and teen swimming lessons for ages 13 and up! No matter your ability, whether you are a beginner swimmer just looking to become comfortable in the water, or an experienced swimmer looking to improve your front crawl stroke and flip turns for an upcoming triathlon, our adult and teen swimming lessons are for you!
