Mat-Su Borough Water Rescue Team

The MSB has a dedicated Water Rescue (Dive) team that is independent of the fire departments and responds to all manner of water related emergencies anywhere in the Borough. This team is comprised of Divers, Swift Water Rescue Technicians, Ice Rescue Technicians and many responders are also cross trained in technical rescue. The team operates a diverse complement of specialty boats, rafts and jet-skis to support this mission. Annually the water rescue team responds to a variety of emergencies that range from overturned boats/ kayaks, missing swimmers, people trapped in ice or in the mud, to assisting on other rescues that are only accessible via boat or watercraft. The water rescue team has evolved over many years as a part of the Department of Emergency Services and is predominately staffed by on-call responders who work to keep our community safe.
