Rescue Operations

Rescue services are frequently required to assist EMS and fire responses to protect lives. These services include responding to motor vehicle accidents, entrapments, assisting EMS crews with medical emergencies, water rescues, off road rescues, and technical rescues. These services are an area wide function of DES. Local fire departments partner with the Borough to cross train firefighters as rescue techni-cians as well as provide EMS training so they can best assist the public during their time of need. In the Mat-Su Borough rescue related emergencies account for roughly 55% of a fire department’s annual call volume. Fire department personnel and equipment are strategically staged throughout the Borough to be able to respond to all manner of emergencies and render aid.
