MSB Transfer Station - Skwentna

Transfer Station Rules

The Skwenta Transfer Station must prepare each load of items for hauling to the Deshka Landing pick-up site.

Keeping things organized and complying with these rules will help us to keep costs and your taxes down.

• All items must be clean and free of food waste.

• Place items in appropriate containers (e.g. batteries in battery container, plastics in plastics container, aluminum cans in aluminum cans container, etc.).

• Carefully place batteries in battery container. Throwing batteries on top of each other will break batteries and cause acid to leak into container.

• Close container lids.

• Do not mix items in container.

If container is full, please call Transfer Station Attendant at 907-795-5000.

Accepted Items

• Refrigerators/Freezers Please empty all contents from refrigerators and freezers.

• Aluminum Cans* Please crush cans to conserve space.*

• Batteries* Please ensure all caps are tight.*

• Metal Cans* Cans only. Please cut out tops and bottoms and flatten.*

• Alkaline and Lithium Batteries Small AA, AAA, C,D, 9-volt, etc.

• Plastics Plastic bottles, jugs, etc. not to exceed 1 cubic foot in diameter.

Not Accepted

• Ash Ash is a great substitute for lime and can be used to cut acidity in the soil.

• Metal Scrap metal (other than cans) is not accepted. This includes automobile parts, household appliances, exercise equipment, metal tanks, etc.

• Organic Matter Food, wood, and other compostable items are not accepted.

• Vehicles Snow machines, ATV’s, Cars, etc. are not accepted.

• Motor and Cooking Oil Any type of motor or cooking oil that has been used for heating, lubrication, cooking, etc. is not accepted.

• Propane Tanks

• Anything Else Not Mentioned should be considered as "not accepted". Please direct any questions to 907-795-5000.
