MetLife
The Borough purchases life and accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance for all regular part-time and full-time employees through MetLife.
In the event you should pass away, your beneficiary will receive a maximum of $50,000. If death is the result of a workplace accident (as defined by the contract), then the beneficiary(ies) will receive an additional $50,000. A scheduled benefit is paid for amputation or paralysis of limbs. Eligible dependents are provided a small amount of life insurance coverage. This benefit is intended to offer limited financial assistance in the event of the death of a covered dependent.

State of Alaska Supplemental Life Insurance
Borough employees also have the option to enroll in State of Alaska Voluntary Supplemental Benefits which are also through MetLife. This includes additional life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment, short term disability, long term disability and critical illness.
