Roads & Highway Safety Program
The Matanuska-Susitna Borough Roads and Highways Safety Program is dedicated to improving transportation safety for all users across the Borough’s extensive roadway network. By analyzing traffic accident data, the program identifies high-risk areas and trends that inform targeted safety interventions. The Borough’s completion of a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan further strengthens this effort by providing a comprehensive framework for reducing roadway fatalities and serious injuries through community-driven planning and evidence-based strategies. Complementing these initiatives is the Pedestrian and Bike Plan, which promotes safer, more accessible routes for non-motorized travel, encouraging active transportation and enhancing connectivity. Together, these components form a proactive and inclusive approach to roadway safety and mobility.
